Public School Hosts 2nd Annual Bicycle Train

A record number of students, parents, faculty, and administration participated in Hampton Public School’s second annual Bicycle Train, part of the school’s involvement in the Hunterdon County Safe Routes to School program. A bike train is a chaperoned bicycle route for students to follow and ride together on their way to school.

goHunterdon staff set up a temporary bike lane along Foss Avenue to allow students to ride their bicycles to school safely and in an organized manner. The temporary bike lane provided a secure space for the students to ride.

Before the ride, goHunterdon staff led participating students through bicycle helmet fittings and “Air, Brake, Chains/Cassette (ABC) Quick Check” exercises. School administrators participated on bikes, serving as great role models for the students. In response to the continued great turnout, the school plans to host more frequent bike trains next school year.
