goHunterdon Remembers Ron Monaco

Memorial Bench

goHunterdon recently honored former goHunterdon President, Ron Monaco, with the installation of a memorial bench at the NJ TRANSIT Whitehouse Train Station. More than thirty people, including Ron’s family, goHunterdon Board Members, staff, elected officials, and representatives of NJ TRANSIT, were in attendance at a dedication event to remember Ron and celebrate his life and legacy.

In her welcoming remarks, Violet Kocsis, President of goHunterdon, reflected on Ron’s commitment to the organization. Ron co-founded goHunterdon in 1994 and served as its first Vice President. He was elected President of the goHunterdon Board in 1997 and served in that role until his passing last summer.

Ron was a passionate advocate for transportation in Hunterdon County. He was particularly dedicated to passenger rail service along the Raritan Valley Line and the preservation of the historic train station, which now serves as the Readington Township Library. Ron served as an elected and appointed official in Readington Township for over forty years.

The placement of the memorial bench at the station will stand as a lasting tribute to Ron’s longstanding community service and extraordinary volunteerism.
