What is Travel Training?
goHunterdon’s Travel Training program promotes and supports the independent travel needs of older adults, people with disabilities, and other transportation dependent individuals. The free training helps to remove transportation barriers by helping passengers to learn how to use public transit services so that they may travel independently, safely, and confidently based on real-life transit experiences.
Consumers of travel training may include:
- Older adults who may be new to the community, have never driven, or are thinking of stopping driving, and are looking for transportation options.
- People with physical differences who may benefit from training or orientation related to the accessibility features of Hunterdon County’s accessible transit vehicles.
- People with mental, intellectual, or sensory differences who may benefit from training to support independence.
- Individuals without a personal vehicle who rely on public transportation to meet their mobility needs.
