When it’s time to consider “retiring” from driving, creating a driving retirement plan can help older adults adjust to this new life transition, just like planning retirement from work.
Making a transportation plan can help keep older adults mobile, engaged in the community, maintain independence, and meet their transportation needs in the years ahead.
goHunterdon’s “Your Driving Retirement Plan: Plan Ahead for Success” presentation is available to community groups, free of charge. The hour long session walks participants through a discussion on how to continue to drive safely, what to consider when deciding when it may be time to limit driving, and what transportation options are available for when the decision is made to give up the keys completely. The presentation features real life scenarios and travel options for older adults to continue to meet their daily needs in their “driving retirement.”
