goHunterdon is now scheduling CarFit events for the spring season.
CarFit is a community-based educational program created in 2006 by AARP and the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA). The program promotes continued safe driving and mobility among older drivers by focusing on safety, comfort, and fit in a driver’s personal vehicle.
CarFit is not a driving test. It is a free 20-minute personalized session where trained goHunterdon technicians guide participants through a 12-step checklist to assess how well they “fit” in their vehicle. The session covers important safety elements such as seat positioning, mirror alignment to reduce blind spots, proper seatbelt adjustment, and optimal steering wheel placement—all tailored to maximize driving comfort and safety. If you’d like to bring CarFit to your municipality or organization visit gohunterdon.org/safety/carfit or contact Ryan Fisher, goHunterdon Safety Programs Manager, rfisher@gohunterdon.org, or call goHunterdon at 908-788-5553.
