goHunterdon welcomes our newest staff member, Mia Russo, who recently began her role supporting goHunterdon’s Healthcare Access Transportation Program.
As a Healthcare Mobility Coordinator, Mia facilitates Uber and Lyft rides for seniors and human services clients, ensuring they have reliable transportation to non-emergency medical appointments.
Mia holds an Associate Degree in Nursing from Raritan Valley Community College and brings valuable experience from her time as a perioperative aide and operating room nurse at St. Luke’s Bethlehem. After stepping away from nursing, Mia was eager to transition into a role that allows her to support the broader healthcare needs of the community in a new and impactful way.
“We are thrilled to have Mia on board, working alongside Marina Bartelli, goHunterdon Healthcare Mobility Coordinator, as the program continues to grow and meet the needs of area residents needing to get to non-emergency medical appointments,” says Tara Shepherd, Executive Director.
The Healthcare Access Transportation Program began in 2020, in collaboration with Hunterdon Health, to support those at risk of missing non-emergency medical appointments due to a lack of transportation. Transportation is arranged by goHunterdon using Uber and Lyft. Since 2020, goHunterdon has facilitated more than 4,100 one way rides.
In 2024, goHunterdon began facilitating rides to “out of county” non- emergency medical appointment rides for clients of the Hunterdon County Department of Human Services to supplement the Hunterdon County LINK Volunteer Driver Program. Since the start of that initiative, goHunterdon has facilitated more than 460 one way rides to needed medical appointments for clients.
The program is supported by the North Jersey Transportation Planning Authority, NJ TRANSIT, Hunterdon County, the Horizon Foundation for New Jersey, The Large Foundation, and Solventum Foundation.
