goHunterdon welcomes Nina Lewis to the role of Safe Routes Coordinator. Nina is responsible for advancing the goals of Safe Routes to School Program: “Where it is safe, get more kids walking and bicycling; where it is not safe, make it safe.”
In her first few weeks with goHunterdon, Nina participated in several Back-to-School night events at Hunterdon elementary and intermediate schools to share information about the program with parents and guardians.
Throughout the coming school year, Nina will be educating and empowering young pedestrians, bicyclists, and scooter riders to be safer on their way to and from school by delivering interactive safety presentations, activities, and coordinating walk/bike to school events.
Nina comes to goHunterdon having previously worked as a Teachers’ Aide at The Midland School, a non-profit, 501 (c) (3) organization that provides a lifelong continuum of services to children, teenagers, and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and their families.
Nina grew up in Lebanon Township and is a graduate of Voorhees High School. Nina holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication, with a Minor in Music, from Rutgers University.
Safe Routes to School is a nationwide program, funded in New Jersey, by the New Jersey Department of Transportation and facilitated locally by transportation management associations. goHunterdon has facilitated Safe Routes to School Programming in Hunterdon County since 2008.
