goHunterdon is partnering with the Hunterdon County Department of Human Services to support the development of the 2025 Update to the Hunterdon County Coordinated Human Services Transportation Plan (CHSTP).
This federally required plan helps guide funding and services for community and paratransit transportation. All counties receiving Federal Transit Administration (FTA) funding must update their CHSTPs at least every five years and submit them to NJ TRANSIT on behalf of the FTA.
Hunterdon County’s first plan was introduced in 2007 and has been updated in 2009, 2015, and 2020. The upcoming 2025 update will include:
- A current inventory of transportation services and providers
- Assessment of transportation needs and service gaps
- Review of past strategies and their effectiveness
- Updated priorities based on current resources, timelines, and feasibility
- An outline of how the county meets federal accessibility service requirements
The planning process includes a comprehensive review of county demographics, past plan recommendations, emerging needs, and existing human services assessments. Input is also being gathered through surveys, stakeholder meetings, and focus groups.
A draft of the updated plan is expected to be completed by fall, with final review and approval by the Hunterdon County Transportation Advisory Committee and the Hunterdon County Board of County Commissioners anticipated by year-end.
